For the second consecutive week, Carson High's golf team placed second in the Sierra League Tournament.
Carson's five-man team shot 408, 11 strokes behind Bishop Manogue, which finished with a 397 at Thunder Canyon Golf Club. Brett Anderson was the Senators' lone medalist with a 1-over-par 73.
"As the season goes along the boys will improve," coach Terry Gingell said. "I'm pleased with what I've seen so far. By the end of the season, we'll be putting (more) pressure on Manogue."
Carson was led by Jon Singer and Jason Davis, both of whom shot 75. Ryan Livermore shot 85, Garrett Gingell 86 and Jordan Rogers 87.
CARSON JV GIRLS WIN TWO
Carson's JV softball team has rolled to a pair of non-league wins in the last two days on its home field.
On Monday, Carson knocked off Dayton 14-1 and then beat Reed 5-3 Tuesday.
Ali Vondrak allowed three hits and fanned six on Monday.
Christina Gallegos allowed two hits on Tuesday.
Emily Collins led the offense with four runs and an RBI, while Taya Rains added two hits and three RBIs on Monday.
On Tuesday, Collins singled home two runs in a five-run first. Carson scored all of its runs in the first and then held on to win. Dee Morrow also had an RBI single.
Morgan McEwan, Kristalei Wolfe and Jessica Roberts added two hits each.
Carson is now 10-2 overall.
Carson baseball loses to McQueen
Carson High blew a 5-1 first-inning lead and went on to drop a 10-8 decision to McQueen Tuesday afternoon in a non-league baseball game.
Carson drops to 9-2 and returns to action Thursday at Reed.
Brett Valley and Paul Cagle each collected three hits, while Dustin Buttner went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs. Tommy Preston went 2-for-5 and scored twice, while Cameron Mayville also finished with two hits. Matt Rutledge and Cody Barr added a hit apiece.
Rutledge will start Thursday against Reed.
