Washington, D.C. - Today U.S. Congressman Dean Heller, R-Nv., made the following statement on last night's Democrat rejection of his amendment to prevent a massive tax increase on small businesses:

"As our economy struggles, the last thing small businesses need is a massive tax increase. Small businesses are the economic engine of Nevada and our nation. Congress should be helping to create jobs, not stifling economic growth. Unfortunately, the majority party has determined that small businesses are responsible for funding bigger government," said Heller.

The Heller amendment would prevent the tax hike on small businesses and investors within the proposed budget, which is approximately $204 billion over 5 years. House Democrats would not consider Heller's amendment in the House Rules Committee.
