A Minden man was injured Wednesday morning when he ran his work truck into a large landscaping boulder outside the animal shelter in East Carson City.
Michael Olney, 21, was northbound on Fairview Drive near Butti Way when the accident occurred at 8:54 a.m., said Carson City Sheriff's Deputy Josh Stagliano.
"He said he swerved to avoid a dog," Stagliano said.
Olney's three-quarter ton pickup crossed the southbound lanes and jumped the curb in front of the shelter. It ran into a bed of landscaping rocks where it slammed into an enormous boulder, shoving it from its resting spot.
Olney apparently smacked his face in the accident and suffered a broken nose, said Deputy Matt Putzer.
Olney was taken from the scene by ambulance.
He will be cited for failure to maintain a lane, said Stagliano.
