The Western Nevada softball team picked up its first win against a team not name Colorado Northwestern this season with a 4-2, eight-inning victory over 20th-ranked North Idaho.
"They kept announcing that they were the 20th-ranked team in the nation," WNC coach Scott Rasner said. "They're good, but the girls decided to take one from them and now they know they can do it."
The Wildcats lost the early game of the doubleheader 9-0.
WNC is 9-24 on the season with eight of those wins coming against Colorado Northwestern. It will face Snow College in a four-game series beginning at 1 p.m. Friday at Centennial Park.
The Wildcats scored the winning runs in the eighth inning when Lisa Senko doubled in Alisha Perry to move ahead 3-2. Senko then scored on a North Idaho error.
Perry was 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the third inning.
Alyson Herman pitched the complete game, giving up three hits, five walks and had one strikeout.
