RENO " The Reno Aces unveiled their roster Saturday for the upcoming season, and it includes six players who spent some time in the Major League in 2008.
The list is headed by Josh Whitesell, who was the PCL Rookie of the Year after batting .328 with 26 homers and 110 RBI for Tucson last year.
Infielder Ruben Gotay played 88 games with Atlanta last season, while pitcher Bobby Korecky went 2-0 in 16 appearances with Minnesota. Catcher Luke Carlin caught Greg Maddux's 350th career pitching win. Alex Romero, a switch-hitter, played 78 games with the D-Backs last year and will start in the outfield this season.
Three other outfielders played well at the Triple-A level last season. Trent Oeltjen hit .317 at Tucson, Chris Roberson stole 20 bases for Norfolk and Brandon Watson hit .305 for Lehigh.
The pitching staff for manager Brett Butler includes Cesar Valdez and Esmerling Vasquez, the last two Minor League Pitchers of the Year.
Former first-round pick Seth Etherton, who has a 9-7 career record in a brief career in the majors.
The team opens on the road on April 9 at Salt Lake. After Salt lake and Colorado, the teams returns for its opener on April 17 against Salt Lake.
The home opener already is a sellout.
