On last Sunday the Rev. Mr. Wier (colored) baptized two colored ladies by immersion, in the Carson River by Empire. There was a large crowd, both white and colored, to witness the ceremony. The preacher first fathomed the depth with a long pole. They were soused under the cold water singly, and during the entire course of the ceremony those on the banks kept up a chanting of hymns. The ceremony was a very interesting one to many, who had never seen the like before.

The fire of Thursday night now has the appearance of a firebug proposition. A trace of coal oil was detected. It is said that a piece of waste saturated with oil was also found.
