LIVE FROM RENO: Colorado bests Aces

You can't ask for a better night at the ballpark. We're a half-hour into the

game, and people are still coming through the turnstiles. I'm guessing a

crod of about 4,000 tonight. Not bad for a Tuesday.

A 6:05 start may be early for some, but for a journalist it's great. No

deadline pressure here.

Seth Etherton looks good thus far. He's mixing his pitches well. Other than

two groundball singles in the second only one ball has left the infield.

7 p.m. UPDATE: Matt Miller has homered to right-center field, tying the game at 1. Knock on wood, this has turned into a nice pitcher's duel.

The Aces' Rusty Ryal has just lined to left, as Josh Fogg's streak of 10

straight retired batters is over.

The one thing that bugs me about the PCL is that pitchers sometimes hit when

two NL teams are playing each other. How ridiculous is that? Nobody wants to

watch pitchers hit. It's very painful. Let the position players hit. They

are the ones that need the at-bats.

Reno went up 2-1 thanks to a sac fly by Josh Wilson.

7:30 UPDATE: Ex-Cub Matt Murton hit a wind-blown homer to right to put Colorado ahead

3-2, and you could have heard a pin drop.

It's been a quiet crowd thus far. Agustin Murillo just hit a single. A few

hearty fans start a "Let's Go Aces, Let's Go" chant. The chants turn to

groans when Luke Carlin takes a called third strike.

7:50 UPDATE: The seventh was Etherton's last and toughest inning, The Sky Sox loaded the bases with one out, but Eric Young Jr. forced a runner at the plate and

Gonzalez lined right at Trent Oeltjen in right field. Getting out out of the

jam produced a big cheer.

GOING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE NINTH: Colorado leads 3-2 heading into last of 9th.

GAME OVER: Colorado won the game 3-2.
