Lewis out as Bank of America chairman

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) " Ken Lewis has lost his role as Bank of America's chairman, and now he'll have to prove to shareholders that he should keep his post as the troubled bank's CEO.

After months of rancor following Bank of America Corp.'s acquisition of troubled investment bank Merrill Lynch & Co., shareholders voted at the company's annual meeting to separate the jobs of chairman and CEO. Lewis will remain the CEO of the bank, while board member Walter E. Massey, president emeritus of Morehouse College in Atlanta, will become Bank of America chairman.

Plane lands safe after engine problem

SEATAC, Wash. (AP) " A Boeing 777 has landed safely at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport after its crew reported a malfunction in one of its two engines.

Airport spokesman Perry Cooper says Asiana Airlines Flight 271 turned around soon after takeoff Wednesday afternoon. He says the plane's crew reported an "engine out." The plane dumped fuel over Puget Sound before landing.

Cooper says his initial report of an engine fire was incorrect. He says fire crews have looked at the engine and found no signs of fire.

The flight was headed to Seoul.

Hyomin Lee, a spokeswoman for Asiana Airlines in Seoul, says 176 passengers and 16 crew were on board.

Octuplet mom questioned about son's black eye

LA HABRA, Calif. (AP) " Octuplets mother Nadya Suleman was questioned Wednesday by police and child welfare officials after her 4-year-old autistic son showed up at school with a black eye and bite marks.

Orange County's Child and Family Services and two La Habra police detectives visited Suleman's home but it was not clear if any action would be taken against the mother of 14, said Jeff Czech, Suleman's attorney.

The 45-minute visit was arranged when a teacher noticed Aidan's injuries and reported them to authorities, Czech said.

The attorney said the boy likely got the black eye from a fall and suggested one of Suleman's 2-year-old twins may have caused the bite marks.
