The next monthly mixer for the Carson City Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for Aug. 19 at 5 p.m. at the Carson City Elks Lodge #2177, 515 N. Nevada St. Chamber mixer feature refreshments and are open to the public. For more information, call 882-1565.
There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony and wine and cheese reception for The Lodge Assisted Living and Memory Care at 5:15 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21.
The Lodge is located at 2200 E. Long St. in Carson City. On Saturday, Aug. 22, the facility will be open for public tours.
Nevada's Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology is calling for nominations for the second annual "NCET Awards," presented to top technology companies and entrepreneurs.
Winners will be announced Oct. 14 following the Silver & Gold Venture Capital Conference.
Award categories are Technology Company of the Year, Technology Start-up, Green Company of the Year, Technology Entrepreneur of the Year, CIO/CTO of the Year and Technology Educator of the Year.
Entry deadline is Sept. 23. Forms and instructions are available at www.NCET.org.
The awards are presented by NCET and sponsored by Northern Nevada Business Weekly.
The Nevada Small Business Development Center, with funding provided through a grant with the U.S. Small Business Administration and additional contributions from NV Energy, is sponsoring a workshop to help businesses learn how to conserve energy in their operations. The Carson City Chamber of Commerce monthly breakfast meeting in August will feature a program about how social networking can help local businesses.
The pancake breakfast and seminar takes place at 7:30 a.m. Aug. 4 at the Elks Club, 515 N. Nevada St. Nevada Appeal reporter Kirk Caraway will discuss how to connect with customers using tools like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
