In a fix: A well-known gentleman went to Swift's Hot Springs to take a bath and occupied the bath room which had no roof. The benches in the apartment were made of pitch pine and the hot broiling sun drew the pitchy substance out in great quantities. After the gentleman had taken his bath he occupied one of the pitchy benches long enough to dry his feet. He made an effort to rise and found that he was glued to the spot. At length he called for help and a number of sappers and miners came to free him.
