Carson City

The following people were booked into the Carson City Jail. All suspects are innocent until proved guilty in court:

• George Ridgley, 47, of Carson City, was arrested Friday at 11:57 p.m. in the 2700 block of Panamint Drive for felony third degree arson and gross misdemeanor for obstructing fire personnel trying to extinguish a fire.

Ridgley was reportedly angry with is wife, set a mattress on fire in his backyard and used the flames to burn a backpack belonging to his spouse. When firefighters arrived to put out the flames, he allegedly attacked them and had to be restrained. Bail was set at $10,000.

• A 45-year-old bartender from Carson City was arrested Friday at 4:09 p.m. at Division and Fourth streets for misdemeanor second offense DUI and being involved in a hit-and-run accident. A driver reported that he was following a truck that had hit his car and drove away. The responding officer stopped the truck after witnessing him run a stop sign. The driver appeared very drunk and could not answer questions. A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol level of .330. A records check also showed the subject had DUI arrests in 1999, 2001 and 2002. Because only the 2002 arrest fell within the last seven years, the subject was only charged with second offense DUI. Bail was set at $3,264.

• A 22-year-old unemployed Washoe Valley man was arrested Friday at 10:51 p.m. in the 1000 block of 4th Street for misdemeanor domestic violence and an outstanding warrant. The subject's ex-girlfriend reported that he had battered her, which was supported by a witness to the incident. The subject was found to have an outstanding warrant out of Reno. Bail was set for $5,132.

• A 47-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested Thursday at 5:37 p.m. at Clearview and Highway 395 for misdemeanor violation of bail conditions, suspended registration and no proof of insurance. The subject and another person were reported to be pan-handling in the area of Fuji Park. A check of the car's plates showed the registration had been suspended, and that the driver was on alternative sentencing, with the condition he can only drive a vehicle with current registration and insurance. Bail was set at $3,839.
