Spielberg to be awarded Philly Liberty Medal

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Filmmaker Steven Spielberg will be awarded Philadelphia's 2009 Liberty Medal for his artistic and humanitarian achievements on Oct. 8.

The National Constitution Center made the announcement Tuesday.

Spielberg's films include "Schindler's List," "Saving Private Ryan" and "The Color Purple." He has also established a foundation to produce video and oral histories of Holocaust survivors. The center says Spielberg will donate the award's $100,000 cash prize to that organization, Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation.

The medal was established in 1988 to honor those whose actions represent the founding principles of the United States. Previous winners have included Bono, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai and former U.S. President Jimmy Carter.

Heidi Klum shares after pregnancy shape-up tips

LOS ANGELES (AP) - When Heidi Klum famously walked the runway in lingerie for Victoria's Secret less than two months after giving birth to son Henry, she became the envy of moms everywhere still struggling to lose post-baby pounds.

But the 36-year-old supermodel insists there's no trick to it.

"I've never really had any special girdle machines or anything like that," she said. "For me, it's, you know, really healthy foods, exercising, playing with the children, going to the park. Normal things."

No crazy strict diets, either.

"I've never done diets," she said. "But I also do not sit on the couch with my feet up and eat one potato chip bag after the next and one burger after the other. I think you have to kind of do a little bit of everything."

It's easier to drop post-pregnancy weight if you make getting into shape a priority after giving birth, she said.

"I never really put a lot of pressure on myself, but for me personally, I feel like it is always better to get into shape immediately. I feel like if I drag it out too long, I'm not going to do it," she said. "So for me it works to kind of get back into shape, afterwards, I feel great. I can put my normal clothes back on and it makes me happy, and it's worked so far."

She's expecting a baby girl in the fall with husband Seal. The couple have two sons together and Klum has a daughter from a previous relationship.

The film has been adapted for the stage by Peter Masterson. It will have a score by Steve Dorff, who wrote songs for the film, including two No. 1 country singles, "Heartland" and "I Cross My Heart." Both will be in the stage version.

Chief in Parker-Broderick case on paid leave

BRIDGEPORT, Ohio (AP) - One of two Ohio police chiefs accused of snooping on a celebrity surrogate mother has been placed on paid leave.

The village council in Bridgeport voted Monday to put Chief Chad Dojack on leave pending the outcome of the case, which involves the woman who carried twins for actors Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.

Dojack and Police Chief Barry Carpenter of neighboring Martins Ferry in eastern Ohio pleaded not guilty on Friday to several felonies. A special prosecutor said the men conspired to take items from the surrogate's Martins Ferry home to sell to paparazzi.

Moore's publicist, Staci Wolfe, says the 39-year-old actor was hit by a car while biking in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Says Wolfe: "His leg was broken, but he is OK."

Moore stars on CBS' "Criminal Minds."
