Carson City Board of Supervisors to pass structural improvement bonds

The Carson City Board of Supervisors is expected to pass on second reading today an ordinance authorizing the issuance of $2.9 million in medium-term obligation bonds to finance the cost of ambulances, sewer improvements and storm drainage improvements for the city.

The board is also expected to pass on second reading an ordinance for the issuance of $3.4 million general obligation bonds for improvements to the city's water system.

Other items on today's agenda:

• Supervisors will consider a request from the Downtown Business Association for a $5,000 annual stipend to support ongoing activities with the Redevelopment Authority to revitalize the downtown area.

• Proclamations will be presented recognizing two Carson City 18-year-olds who swam the English Channel on June 13 in 10 hours and 40 minutes to raise money for a 3-year-old boy diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

• The board is expected to accept a $100,000 grant from the Nevada Department of Wildlife to complete the Urban Fishing Pond at Fuji Park.

The board meets at 8:30 a.m. today in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
