Some fuel for life

Much preparation went into our '52 Packard in order to ready it for all of the great classic car events taking place in our area this summer. The preparation included the installation of an electric fuel pump. The car had been equipped with a mechanical pump.

Last week I was taught a life lesson from those fuel pumps. When equipped with the mechanical pump, it was beneficial to pump the accelerator a couple of times before attempting to start the car. With the electric pump this practice will hinder rather than help. Out of habit, I hit the accelerator a couple of times and turned the key. I could hear the electric pump working but instead of starting, the carburetor was flooded with gas and the car wouldn't start. You see, each pump was designed to function according to its design.

In life, we function best when we live in accordance to God's design as revealed in His word. We are wise when we follow the instructions of the Lord of life. Jesus said, "Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock."

It's always wise to follow the Designers plans whether driving a car, building a house or making a life.
