Doing Good Work: William Hart, who has charge of the chain gang, is getting good work out of the men. They are employed in repairing sewers and streets all over town and have so far saved the city considerable expense.

(Continued from Sunday) It was days before her distracted brother found her alone, nearly dead for lack of food and water and insane. With the greatest difficulty he brought her into camp despite her struggles. From there she was taken to Tonopah after a week's work getting there where she was pronounced insane and placed in the State Hospital for mental diseases near Reno (continued tomorrow).
70 YEARS AGO
James Coleman, city trustee and chairman of the board's committee on lighting, announced today that Carson's white way will be a reality. The lights will be turned on for the big parade for the American Legion's three-day convention in Carson. All Carson businesses will be decorated and flags flown for the evening.
50 YEARS AGO
Sheriff's deputies at Al Tahoe began a search when they found an empty boat on Lake Tahoe, but a telephone call a few minutes later explained the mystery. Antoine Gubler of Oakland had been boating a mile offshore, when he decided to go swimming. He dived off the boat, but didn't turn off the motor. The boat sped away and Gubler swam to shore.
20 YEARS AGO
Lynn Hamilton is no longer Carson City's City Manager following action by supervisors citing his abandonment of the position after his contract was not renewed.
10 YEARS AGO
Five dozen students that are going to school without supplies prompted Bob Friedland and his wife Sharon to start a drive for school backpacks. The Office of Traffic Safety donated 200 rulers and the Carson City Sunset Rotary Club drummed up additional donations for packs.
