Northern Nevada is now home to a new Jewish synagogue.

Temple Beth Or is currently congregating in the Reno home of Rabbi Elizabeth Beyer while they look for a permanent location, said temple secretary Diane Black.

Beth Or is a small, growing group comprised of diverse individuals, according to a news release. Their emphasis is learning of ancient, sacred Jewish texts. Their prayer services range between Reform and Conservative traditions with elements of Jewish Renewal and Reconstructionism.

Rabbi Beyer has worked as a nurse, attorney, assistant professor for health care ethics at UNR and now as a rabbi. She was ordained by the Academy for Jewish Religion in Los Angeles.

Services are held the first Friday of each month. High Holy Days will be celebrated Sept. 18-19 and 27-27.
