Gaskills to celebrate 50 years

John and Nancy Gaskill will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their daughters, Susan Martinovich, and Lisa Schuette, and about 40 family and friends Aug. 22 at Barone & Reed in Minden.

The Gaskills were married Aug. 22, 1959, at the First Presbyterian Church in Elko by the late Rev. Harold Van Zee. Besides their daughters, the Gaskills also had a son, John, who died in 1984.

Mr. Gaskill retired in 1989 after 32 years with the Nevada Department of Transportation, where daughter Martinovich is now the director. Mrs. Gaskill is a retired nurse and helped start the nursing program at Western Nevada College. They've called Carson City home since September 1959.
