COLD SPRINGS, Nev. (AP) - Crews were gaining the upper hand on a wildfire that has grown to 10,000 acres, or nearly 16 square miles, in the Clan Alpine Range of Nevada.

Fire Operations Chief Tracy Dunford says he expects to have the Hoyt fire fully contained by Monday evening.

Crews were securing the fire's final perimeter on Sunday and redoubling efforts on other fronts. They had the fire about 75 percent contained.

The Hoyt fire, about 125 miles northeast of Reno, claimed a casualty Friday when a single-engine air tanker crash, killing the pilot.

Dave Jamsa of the Missoula, Mont., area was trying to make a drop when his plane went down in rugged terrain. He worked for Minuteman Aerial Applications.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
