(AP) - U.S. Sen. Harry Reid will host a telephonic town hall meeting this week to discuss health care reform.

The Democratic Senate Majority Leader has scheduled the meeting Friday, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

In a written release, his office says about 50,000 Nevadans will be invited to participate. Anyone interested in taking part can register online through the senator's Web site, www.reid.senate.gov.

Registration closes at noon Thursday and is open to people within Nevada area codes 702

or 775.

Reid's office says the tele-town hall format will allow discussion of the issue and discourage outbursts that have disrupted other forums.
