130 YEARS AGO

A few days ago a Carson girl made a mince pie for her lover and as it was piping hot she thought it would have time to cool before he arrived. With this idea in view she put it on the front steps and then began to fix her crimps. While engaged in the sport, she heard the front bell ring and when she opened the door found him wiping his feet in the mince pie. The blundering idiot tracked the pie all over the new carpet. Mince pie on the carpet is not the place for it, but the doctors say it's better there than in his stomach.

100 YEARS AGO

Emmerson, editor of the Mason Valley News, Kidder, manager of Mason Township and Lawson, representing Salt Lake capitalists spent last night arranging the celebration of Railroad Day for the arrival of the S.P. Railroad from Wabuska to that thriving little metropolis.

70 YEARS AGO

Dr. J. H. Stickler, Indian service physician from Stewart, was guest speaker today at the Carson City Lions Club. Stickler explained how the Federal Government spends some $93,000 a year on Indian medical care in the state.

50 YEARS AGO

"Sundown," a new western town but with an accent on children, is scheduled to open near Washoe City June 1, according to builders Buster Keaton Jr., and George Carroll. Located on 120 acres near Joy Lake about two miles from Washoe city, the installation has already assumed the shape of a western city.

20 YEARS AGO

After years of planning, Dayton's historic Bluestone Building will open as new county offices. The building has been the center of controversy during its 125 history including fatal shootings, a heart attack and years of use.

10 YEARS AGO

Western Nevada just completes its warmest fall in the 112 years weather records have been kept in the state.
