5 Dayton players make second team in 3A

Nevada Appeal Staff Report

Five Dayton High football players received second-team honors as voted upon by the Nothern Nevada 3A coaches.

Running back Kyle Onstott, offensive lineman Jeff Peterson, linebacker Ricky Bodine, defensive back Kage Walker and punter Connor Oliver were selected.

Oliver also was an honorable mention selection at wide receiver, while tight end Dusty Smith also was an HM slection. Linemen Justin Sabatoni, Manuel Castaneda and defensive back Alex Cupp also were honorable mrntion selection.

Fernley quarterback Bryce Baker was named Player of the Year, while Truckee quarterback Ben Bolton was Offensive Player of the Year. Truckee's Jackson Weed was Defensive Player of the Year, Fernley's Brian Keathley was Lineman of the Year and Lowry's Tim Billingsley was the 3A Coach of the Year.

Tommy's, Toads

lead the way

Tommy's and Toads are the leaders in the Comstock and Mosconi divisions in the American Poolplayers Association.

Tommy's has 838 points, seven ahead of Dean's Machine and 38 ahead of Trouble Makers.

Richard Matha of Dean's Machine leads the 4-5 tier with 35 points. while Stacey Dauphne of Rattlers is next with 29 and Eric Richards of Tommy's is third with 28. Jamie Day leads the 6-9 tier with 47 points, while Juan Pina of Twisted Stix is second with 32. Corrine Macauley of Trouble Makers leads the 1-3 tier with 32 points, while Jason Brendel of Twisted Stix is second with 22 and Stacy Gentry of Flashbacks is third at 21.

Toads is at 52 points, five better than Jerry's Kids and seven better than Anarchy Nation and Scratch Masters.

Austin Matthews leads the 4-5 tier with 38, eight ahead of Casey Richards of SRH and William Kenson of the Sliders. The Toads' Alex Gutierrez leads hte 6-7 tier with 38 points, two better than Juan Pina of Twisted Attitudes and seven ahead of Daniel McRae of Glastine Pub. Robert Bridges of Anarchy Nation leads the 2-3 tier with 41 points, well ahead of Larry Lawrence (Anarchy Nation) who has 29 and Eric Richards of SRH who has 28.

Bighorns slate

The Reno Bighorns of the NBA Developmental League is hosting Jump Shots for Jackets, a special coat and winter clothes drive on Dec. 13 at the Reno Events Center prior to the Bighorns-Bakersfield Jam game which tips off at 3.

The Bighorns are teaming with Ashlee's Toy Closet, the police and fire departments from Reno as well as the cities of Sparks and Reno through the involvement of the Community Assistance Center.

Fans are encouraged to donate new or lightly used coats, jackets, hats and gloves to help the underprivileged. The first 150 fans to donate any of the items will receive a free lift ticket courtesy of the Sugar Bowl Resort, which is a $60 value.

Local soccer team

headed to sectionals

Good 'N Plenty, a U10 girls soccer team, will be playing in the AYSO sectional tournament Dec. 12 and 13 in Foster City.

The team went undefeated in league play and stayed undefeated throughout the area tournament held last month.
