RENO - A judge has granted a portion of a request for a grand jury investigation into corruption allegations against top officials at the University of Nevada, Reno.

The exact allegations that will be subject to grand jury review were not disclosed in Washoe District Judge Connie Steinheimer's 92-page order filed Thursday.

Steinheimer says that's because the law requires grand jury matters to be confidential.

Former women's soccer coach Terri Patraw, geology professor Richard Schweickert and UNR police officer Lane Grow have accused UNR and other higher education officials of being involved in criminal activity and conspiring to cover it up.

In a statement, the university said it was pleased the judge found 178 of the petitioners' allegations were unfounded.
