Stephen Dale Wysong was born April 28, 1950 in South Gate, Calif., and passed away December 9, 2009, in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. He graduated from Paramount High School where he maintained academic excellence and lettered in football and track.
Stephen graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a degree in anthropology. He took the civil service aptitude test with the intention of becoming a forest ranger, but scored so highly he was recruited by the IRS. While working for the IRS in San Francisco he attended night school and earned an accounting degree from San Jose State University. After posting the highest score in his class on the CPA exam he relocated to Tahoe in 1978 and worked as a part-time ski patrolman and accountant before opening his own CPA practice in 1980.
In Tahoe, Stephen was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed skiing, hiking, camping, fishing, and walking with his dog. He was very active in the community, participating in the Kiwanis Club, acting on the board of Tahoe Youth and Family Services, and serving as the city treasurer for 19 years. He was a loving father who was very involved in his children's lives. Stephen was known for his great sense of humor, integrity, and generosity towards those in need.
Stephen is survived by his beloved wife Robyn, son Andrew, daughter Kelly, and numerous sisters, nieces, and nephews. A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18 at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Tahoe Youth and Family Services, Lake Tahoe Women's Center, or Norcal Golden Retriever Rescue. Arrangements are entrusted to Walton's Chapel of the Valley, Carson City.
