130 YEARS AGO

Rumor is that the billiard table at the Reform Club has been furnished with a new set of balls. The opinion of the sporting editor of this publication is that cracks in the old balls are caused by Vann, the piano agent, who plays billiards. Vann is a muscular individual who can put up a hundred pound dumbbell with ease. As a musical instrument sharp he crowds everybody off the track. With billiards, he ought to subside.

100 YEARS AGO

Carson City now has a first-class laundry. Harry Millard has completed his plant and now can turn out as fine work as can be done anyplace in the country. The city now has a service needed for many years past.

70 YEARS AGO

"Shep," a lost dog befriended by State Printer Joe Farnsworth, was killed by a motor vehicle this morning. Over the years "Shep" waxed extremely fat with advancing age and became so slow of movement he would have been killed years ago if he hadn't restricted his wandering to a small, relatively little traveled part of the city. Few dogs enjoy old age under fine care and ease and comfort given "Shep" by the kind hearted Farnsworth.

50 YEARS AGO

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jacques of Carson City are parents of a girl at Carson-Tahoe Hospital.

20 YEARS AGO

A general lockup of 650 inmates at the Nevada State Prison continues today. Confiscated were five dump truck loads of unauthorized materials.

10 YEARS AGO

The city of Fallon is hit with a notice of violation by the Environmental Protection Agency for exceeding arsenic levels in the city's drinking water.
