Many, many years ago when my adult son was 4 years old, we were spending Christmas with out-of-town relatives. My sister-in-law had made arrangements with a neighbor to dress as Santa and come to her house at an appointed time.
When the neighbor arrived and the doorbell rang, we sent my young son to answer the door. With all of his wide-eyed innocence, my son exclaimed "Santa is here." After a brief greeting to Santa he dashed out the front door and I saw him look skyward. I followed him outside and asked what he was looking at. "Well, mom," he said, "I'm just looking for Rudolph." Rudolph definitely took top billing over Santa Claus.
This is absolutely one of my fondest holiday memories, Christmas through the eyes of my child.
