NARFE holiday party this morning

National Active and Retired Federal Employees Chapter 1329 will meet at 11 a.m. today at Fandango's Buffet for a Christmas party and installation of 2010 officers. The cost per person is $12.44 including tax and tip.

Arrivals after 11 a.m. should ask for the Lang party.

Barbershop concert offered to needy

The Chorus of the Comstock would like to be able to help those in the community who are homebound and have no access to artistic programming. The barbershop-style choir would like to give them the opportunity to enjoy their holiday concert.

The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church at 3597 N. Sun-dridge Drive. Tickets normally cost $10.

Free tickets to the concert are available for shut-ins and their companion drivers, and also those in financial hardship.

Meal distribution postponed

The distribution of emergency shelf-stable meals for seniors originally scheduled for today at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center has been canceled due to problems receiving the shipment.

The distribution 12:30-3:30 p.m. Jan. 7 will go on as planned at the senior center at 911 Beverly Drive east entrance.

The meal distribution is for seniors 60 years and older, and their spouses. Each person can receive a distribution of 10 shelf-stable meals which do not require refrigeration and can be eaten with or without heating.
