Rural communities receive tourism grants

(AP) - The Nevada Commission on Tourism has awarded 68 grants totaling more than $365,000 to help rural communities lure visitors.

The grants are awarded twice a year to public agencies. Grants much be matched in amount, either through local funds or in-kind services.

The Fallon Convention and Tourism Authority received $8,000 to promote Tractors & Truffles. The event features locally-grown food, agriculture tourism and rural arts and culture.

Another $10,000 was awarded to the Virginia City Convention and Visitors Authority.
