The former president of Nye & Ormsby County Bank was under police guard after the former Nye County Treasurer threatened him with a gun and demanded the return of a sum of money, which his son had on deposit when the institution closed its doors.

The fine record of the volunteer Warren Fire Engine Company has been a big factor in bringing about decreases in insurance rates in this city. It is up to the citizens to respond generously to the company's one request of the year for funds, which give added protection. Purchase dance tickets and make donations.

County commissioners and city trustees will be asked to appoint members of a new city-county recreational commission. Suggested members include Peg Arnold, Bill Baker, Richard Kay, Mrs. Frank List, Jerry Mann, Ray McGuire, Don Clendenon and Mel Fodrin.

Douglas County sheriff's officers are taking a college-accredited six-week course in Spanish. The volunteer course is taken on the deputies own time.
