RENO (AP) - Casinos and hotels in downtown Reno say they're expecting a lucrative New Year's Eve weekend.
Ward Bullard, regional vice president of marketing for Harrah's Northern Nevada, says he's expecting a sell out for the company's properties in Reno and Lake Tahoe.
A three-day weekend coupled with snow in the mountains is expected to boost sales.
Five downtown hotels and casinos have also pitched in $65,000 for a fireworks display this year. The show will be free and open to the public.
