St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community Youth and Family Ministry is hosting a Praise and Worship Family Concert at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the church, 3000 N. Lompa Lane.
As an outreach of the youth ministry led by Doug Stewart, the church wants to start a family ministry by offering events with the family in mind.
"We are starting a family ministry," said Stewart. "We have youth and elderly ministries, our whole goal is to have the family ministry."
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with fellowship in Chartz Hall. A concert featuring Terri Bond and her band will begin at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. It is open to all families.
Stewart said there will be special guests speaking at the event, who will share a few words with those in attendance, and he will speak as well.
"We'll also serve refreshments after the concert. Our culinary team is working on the menu.
"If someone wants to bring a dish of food to share, like a dessert, they can. It's not a requirement."
Stewart said the event is a time for good family connection and worship.
"We say the family who prays together, stays together," he said. "It's an opportunity to experience prayer in a wonderful, beautiful and different kind of way.
"As families, we're always looking for things to do together. With this, we can enjoy Christian music in a fun environment geared for the young as well as older. And it's free, of course."
