A Carson City man is recovering after being shot once in the leg in a drive-by shooting at a Hot Springs Road trailer park over the weekend.

Detective Daniel Gonzales said the 27-year-old man was with a friend in the parking lot of the Crestview Mobile Home Park, 600 Hot Springs Rd., about 8 p.m. Saturday when a black SUV drove past and fired one shot. The victim was hit in the leg.

Gonzales said the man initially claimed he'd been shot while walking down the street, but witnesses confirmed he had been standing in the trailer park, notorious for gang activity.

The victim has a criminal record for drug involvement and was shot once before in a drive-by in Carson City, according to police records. His name was not released.

Gonzales said the vehicle was described as a large, dark SUV with chrome rims and blue-tinted headlights.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Gonzales at 887-2020 ext. 41407.
