Learn to ski and ride for only $29. In an effort to encourage everyone to get better at skiing or snowboarding, Diamond Peak created another week dedicated to teaching you a new sport or improving your skills.

Diamond Peak held one Learn to Ski & Ride Week back in January, and it was so successful they decided to add another one March 9-13.

The $29 Learn to Ski & Ride Week is available for ages 7 and up and includes a beginner lift ticket, group lesson and rental. Lessons start at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Repeat as many times as you want during the week.

Save more than $50 during this week.

A $59 Learn to Ski & Ride package is available for ages 4-7. This package includes a two-hour group lesson, rentals and a lift ticket with access to the Schoolhouse and Lodgepole lifts.

Reservations are not required and there will be plenty of room for everyone.

The annual Escape from Prison Hill half-marathon will be 7 a.m. April 25 at the Silver Saddle Ranch.

This hallmark half-marathon is an excellent way for those wishing to experience the taste of ultra-marathoning without the added distance. The course offers exceptional views of the Carson River Valley and eastern Sierra.

The Put Your Best Foot Forward Run/Walk brings people of all ages and backgrounds together, walking and running in support of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Carson City.

The race will be 8:30 a.m. May 2 at Long Ranch Park in West Carson City.

In Nevada, CASA volunteers primarily serve as guardian ad litem advocating for children taken into care by the state through a child welfare court case.

The CASA of Carson City Run/Walk will be timed, has categories for different ages and has a 5k route. The event is limited to 300 participants.

Fleet Feet will host a group run at 8 a.m. Saturday at Silver Saddle Ranch.

Participants will be leaving from the parking area on Carson River Road at Silver Saddle Ranch.

Any distance and ability level are available so come out for a run or walk.

Muscle Powered will host a walk 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Riverview Park.

The Tahoe Rim Trail Association will offer an introduction to winter camping Saturday and Sunday. This is an overnight snowshoe trek to learn about winter travel methods and considerations, winter hazards, and snow-camping techniques to safely enjoy the wonders of the winter in the Tahoe region.

The course will cover the preparation that is necessary before venturing out into the cold, white world. Learn important techniques and other considerations once for both traveling and camping in the snow. This one-night trip will be led by two very experienced TRTA guides (Jordan Summers and Wayne McClelland) and staff.

Participants must be 21 years or older and must have the following experience: Three-season hiker with spring or fall backpacking experience within the last three years, experienced snowshoeing in high elevations, must be comfortable and able to snowshoe in moderate terrain, up to eight miles, able to provide necessary winter camping equipment and clothing and complete a health information form and release of liability documents.
