Lipparelli named to gaming board

Gov. Jim Gibbons has named Mark Lipparelli of Las Vegas to the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Lipparelli will fill the seat vacated by Mark Clayton who did not seek reappointment.

His term ended with the new year.

Lipparelli owns a technology development company in Southern Nevada. He was executive vice president of Bally Technology in Las Vegas for four years and spent two years as head of Shuffle Master Inc. He also served five years as a research and securities analyst for the Gaming Control Board in the late 1980s.

Gibbons described Lipparelli as having "the perfect background and experience to continue the effectiveness and efficiency we have on the Gaming Control Board."

The three member board heads the professional staff which monitors gaming licensees in Nevada. The board reports to the Nevada Gaming Commission which consists of five appointees.

The other members of the board are Chairman Dennis Neilander and Randall Sayre.
