RENO " Chris McAlear has been named the new manager for the Bureau of Land Management's Carson City district office.
McAlear, appointed Monday by state BLM Director Ron Wenker, replaces Don Hicks, who retired in July.
McAlear comes from Oregon, where he was field office manager in Butte Falls since 2005.
As district manager in Carson City, he will administer more than 5.3 million acres of public lands in 10 counties across western Nevada and eastern California.
He is scheduled to report to his new assignment in early February.
