There will be 12 candidates to choose from at tonight's school board meeting after one applicant withdrew Monday.
Trisha Zinda, a mother and small-business owner, decided not to seek the District 4 seat vacated by the new Mayor Bob Crowell.
The application process opened Dec. 10 and continued until this past Wednesday.
For weeks, there was only one applicant. However, in the final week, that number jumped to 13.
It is the largest number of applicants for a Carson City School Board seat in at least the past two decades.
Candidates who attend tonight's meeting will be interviewed by current members, and a finalist will be chosen at the end of the process.
Also at tonight's meeting, board officers will be elected, and trustees will be appointed to various committees.
