Andrew "Andy" H. Butti, 88, died Jan. 6, 2009 at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Butti was born March 16, 1920 in Carson City to Mose and Katherine Butti. He was preceded in death by his brother Jack Butti and sister Gwen Butti Mackay.
He graduated from Carson High School in 1937. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Butti served in North Africa and France. In 1959 Mr. Butti opened the Oldsmobile dealership in Carson City becoming one of Carson City's Big Four Auto Dealers. He is fondly remembered for the wacky TV ads of the 1960s. He was a volunteer fireman with Warren Engine Company No. 1 and was a life member of Nevada State Fireman's Assoc. In later years Mr. Butti became a generous contributor in support of education - establishing a scholarship fund at Western Nevada Community College. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Legion, and Lions Club International.
Mr. Butti is survived by his sister Frances McGinnis (John) of Salinas, Calif.; four nieces Kathy, Katy, Carol, Margie; two nephews Ken and Gary, two grandnephews; four grandnieces and very dear friend Bebe Johnson.
There will be no memorial service. A celebration of Mr. Butti's life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Lions Club International Foundation, the Nevada State Firefighters' Association's Benevolence Fund or charity of your choice.
