LAS VEGAS " The ex-convict husband of a former Nevada state judge is going to prison for three to 10 years for a frying pan attack that seriously injured the judge at home in September.
Edward Lee Halverson stunned the courtroom with a claim Wednesday that he, in his words, "clocked" Elizabeth Halverson late Sept. 4 because she pulled a knife on him.
Elizabeth Halverson denied the allegation when it was her turn to speak, and tried to convince Clark County District Court Judge David Barker to reject a plea deal and let the case go to trial.
The judge stuck with the plea agreement reached Oct. 24, when 49-year-old Edward Halverson pleaded an equivalent of no-contest to battery and domestic violence with use of a weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm.
