NORTH LAS VEGAS " Two North Las Vegas police officers have been arrested after supervisors alleged that one beat a California man in custody at a local casino and both falsified their reports about it.

Police Sgt. Tim Bedwell, a department spokesman, says officers Mark Alan Miles and James F. Balelo (ball-AY'-oh) were arrested Thursday after an investigation of the Dec. 6 arrest.

Bedwell says Miles is accused of hitting and knocking a 31-year-old California man to the floor of a holding cell at the Cannery hotel-casino.

The man had been detained by casino security for allegedly causing a disturbance and waving a bottle around at a casino bar.

Bedwell says the unnamed victim wasn't hospitalized, and didn't file a complaint.

He says a department supervisor found the reports that Miles and Balelo filed didn't match the evidence.
