Health Inspections

Carson City Health Department's food-service inspections and the date of inspection (all scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations):

- Gold Dust West-Carson City, 2171 E. Highway 50, restaurant, The Coffee Shop, scored 85 points. Found cole slaw at the servers' reach-in at 58.6F (on top of the unit) and at 45F (inside the unit). Ambient air temperature inside this unit is 30-50F from left to right. Found reach-in No. 2 on the grill line with an internal temperature of 48-50F. Found three staff drinks without lids stored over food prep surfaces. (Repeat Violation) Found numerous containers of cooled foods uncovered in the walk-in. Found two racks of desserts uncovered in the freezer walk-in. Found boxes of food stored on the floor in the dry storage room and in the walk-in. Found serving tongs laying on/in ready to eat foods at the salad bar. Quat test strips are not available to test sanitizer concentration at the three-compartment sink or the mob sink. (Repeat Violation, corrected on site) Provide a thermometer inside the egg/cheese reach-in at the grill line. Do not store packaged cheese on top of uncovered shredded cheese. Perimeter of all kitchen floors need cleaning to remove food debris.

- Gold Dust West-Carson City, 2171 E. Highway 50, restaurant, scored 99 points. Found some sanitizer buckets with no residual Quat sanitizer. (Repeat Violation)

- Jack in the Box No. 7308, 309 E. William Street, restaurant, scored 96 points. Found box of food on the floor in the walk-in freezer (Repeat Violation). Found ready to eat salads stored next to and underneath prepared meat entrees in the walk-in. Found ice scoop laying in the ice in the main ice machine. Found food debris in the clean utensil bin at the 1-compartment sink. Floor in the hot water heater closet is dirty.

- Dairy Queen of Carson City, 3198 E. Highway 50, restaurant, scored 99 points. Found Quat sanitizer residual in the sanitizer buckets and in the nail brush containers at zero or below the required 200 PPM concentration. (Repeat Violation)

- Sonic Drive In, 1856 E. College Parkway, restaurant, scored 97 points. Three-compartment sink is not set up during operational hours. (Repeat Violation) Back of the three -compartment sink needs cleaning and re-caulking. (Repeat Violation) Fan guards are full of dust in the walk-in freezer. Staff jackets are stored improperly. (Repeat Violation)

- Starbucks Coffee No. 11274, restaurant, scored 98 points. Found inside of ice machine (top half) in need of cleaning.

- Bamboo Garden, 3735 S. Carson Street, restaurant, scored 92 points. Improper procedures are used when washing items/utensils in the three-compartment sink. Knifes were washed and rinsed and stored without using a sanitation step. Food removed from original container is not stored in approved container. Flour was found in an open bowl and tub on a low shelf in the storage area. Various other food were stored in containers without covers. Ice scoop is not stored properly. The handle was touching the ice. Floors are not properly cleaned. There was some cardboard which was completely soaked on the floor.

- Bamboo Garden, 3735 S. Carson Street, restaurant, Sushi Bar, scored 100 points.

- Strawhat Pizza, 135 Clearview Drive, scored 100 points.
