Carson JV girls topple Fallon
Carson High's JV girls basketball team improved to 5-1 in Sierra League play with a 50-27 win over Fallon on Saturday.
An effective press in the third quarter enabled Carson to expand a five-point halftime lead into a 15-point bulge, 36-21.
Eliza Matley, Tiana McAllister and Kate Schulz tied for scoring honors with eight points apiece.
E. Valley finishes year at 25-3
The Eagle Valley Middle School eighth-grade basketball team won the consolation title at the South Lake Tournament with a 51-25 win over Jackson on Sunday.
Zach Hudson, who won the free throw contest, led the way with 13 points, while Sage Smith pulled down 10 rebounds.
Eagle Valley went 4-1 in the tournament, losing 44-39 to Martinez in a second-round game.
Eagle Valley beat St. Theresa 56-33 in its opener behind 11 points by Jacob McClelland and Smith, and 10 by Matt Nolan. In the loss to Martinez, Smith led the way with 12 points, while Nolan and Zach Hudson added 10 each.
Eagle Valley knocked off South Tahoe in its third game, 34-17, as Nolan led the way with nine.
Eagle Valley reached the consolation finals with a 43-41 win over Avery, as Nolan scored all 21 of his points in the second half.
Brinson leads CHS ski team
Spencer Brinson finished third to lead Carson High's ski team at Monday's 4A Interleague meet at Soda Springs.
Brinson was timed in 56.57 in his two giant slalom runs, while teammate Skylar VanRensselar was seventh in 58.24. Taylor Phillips was 17th in 62.22.
Danielle Beasom was the top finisher in the girls race. She was 24th in 75.03.
