A Carson City man who pleaded guilty to robbing a convenience store in September could spend up to 20 years behind bars.
Judge Todd Russell sentenced Stephan Beach, 22, on Tuesday to 26 to 120 months in prison for robbery with a consecutive 26 to 120 months for using a weapon during the crime. Beach must serve at least 26 months before he can receive parole on the robbery charge and begin serving the enhancement.
Beach entered the 7-Eleven at Highway 50 East and Airport Road about 2:20 a.m. Sept. 17 and confronted the lone female clerk with a knife.
Beach demanded money, then made off with about $160, according to the arrest report.
Information from a Secret Witness tip led investigators to Beach, who was staying at a friend's house just blocks from the 7-Eleven. He pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery. In exchange for the plea, a charge of kidnapping with an elderly enhancement, because the clerk was over 60, was not pursued.
