There are times I miss the San Francisco Bay area. When you say "cioppino" I think of the wharf, picking out the best seafood ever. The magic in making the amazing shellfish stew is fresh seafood. This month you don't have to go far to enjoy a San Francisco-style cioppino.

Tradition dictates they serve it the messy way and, in my opinion the only way, with shellfish still in their shells. Don't wear white and have plenty of napkins and you'll have fun.

Chef Richard Wilde of Wilde Catering is promising his best darn cioppino ever. Check out the new digs at the Elk's Lodge and the beautiful new billiard table. Following dinner there will be a dessert auction, so bring your best dessert to auction off and the proceeds go to Meals on Wheels for veterans and to local needy family charities.
