Rain to continue into today; snow likely this evening

The National Weather Service on Friday issued a storm watch for the Sierra region. The forecast called for snow to hit at elevations above 8,000 feet into early today, before snowing in the foothills by this evening and continuing into Sunday. Close to a foot of snow was expected in the mountains by this afternoon.
