RENO " Three northern Nevada National Guard soldiers are back home after serving a year in Iraq.
First Sgt. Bud Chattin of Reno, Maj. Shawn Casey of Dayton and Lt. Col. Jeff Mark of Gardnerville had been serving with the 140th Military Police Brigade based in Henderson.
They were greeted with hugs and tears from family members when they arrived Saturday night at Reno-Tahoe International Airport.
"This is the most unbelievable feeling that can be imagined," Mark said as he hugged his 13-year-old daughter, Phoebe. "We made it. We're back."
Traveling on the aircraft with the three Nevada Guardsmen was fellow military police member Jeremy Mayes from Westwood, Calif., who also was returning from Iraq. He was deployed with the U.S. Army's 230th Military Police out of Fort Polk, La.
