A woman who was horseback riding in Hot Springs Mountain was left stranded there after she dismounted and her horse took off about 4:30 p.m.
She was found unharmed walking back home about 9:15 p.m. by Douglas County.
Douglas County search and rescue crews were called out to the area after someone near Johnson Lane spotted the saddled horse running at full speed out of the mountain range, said George McNeil, Carson City Search and Rescue commander.
Carson City Search and Rescue joined in the operation and entered the area through Silver Saddle Ranch off Carson River Road at 6:30 p.m.
