Nevada merchants sold $3.39 billion in goods and services in November, a 10.9 percent decrease from the same month a year ago, the Nevada Department of Taxation reported Friday.
Government tax collections based on the sales showed a worse slump, down 12.2 percent. The taxes totaled $251.6 million, including $63.7 million for the state and the balance for schools and local governments.
Taxable sales were down in 11 of Nevada's 17 counties, including the two biggest population centers " Clark County which encompasses Las Vegas and Washoe County which includes Reno.
In Clark County, sales dropped 11.3 percent to $2.85 billion. Washoe County sales fell 14.3 percent to $458 million.
