The Nevada Bighorns fell below .500 in the WCL after being swept by the perennial powerhouse Humboldt Crabs, 10-6 and 13-8, Wednesday night.
The teams took Thursday off and resume the six--game series tonigh at 7. The teams will play a day-night doubleheader Saturday (12:30 and 7 p.m.) and finish on Sunday with a single game at 12:30 p.m.
In the opener, Nevada star Nick Melino went 4-for-5 and drove in six runs with a grandslam and three singles. The grandlsma came in the second inning. Ther only time the Bighorns retired Melino was in the fourth when Royal Good made a great play on the warnng track in center field to take away an extra-base hit.
Humboldt pitcher Travis McCracken threw six innings to pick up the win. HJe allowed just three balls to hit to the outfield.
Sam Feiner had a sacrifice fly, Brett Lisher had a two-run double, Eric Maupin contribued an RBI single and Travis Ice drove in a run with a bases-loaded single.
In the second game, the Bighors grabbed an 8-5 lead, but the Crabs roared back with a seven-run sixth inning to put the game away.
Good had two hits and two RBI, while Jeff Young socked a bases-loaded triple.
