A little boy belonging to a woman named Mercedes, when going along the Ormsby House block last evening, threw a handful of dirt at a mahala, and she in return, picked up a stone and hit the little fellow in the stomach completely knocking the wind out of him. As soon as he recovered his breath, he ran off, screaming as if he were followed by a hundred infuriated mahalas.

Whenever a man or a company of men wanted to get to Bodie quickly, or anywhere else as soon as possible, they called upon the Raycrafts to get them there. The Raycrafts have always driven the best stock between Bodie and Reno, if not in Nevada. Now Jim has annexed an auto. It is a Studebaker, because Studebaker made Jim's buggies for him. The machine is ready for service.

Nevada's first female senator, Helen Herr, dies. She was 91 and was from Las Vegas. Her political career ended when she opposed the Equal Rights Amendment, even though she insisted she was a feminist.
