Rogers graduates from Chapman

Kathryn Rogers, a 2005 Carson High graduate, graduated Summa Cum Laude from Chapman University in Orange, Calif.

She earned a bachelor of arts degree in public relations and advertising with minors in international relations and university honors.

She was an account director of Chapman's 2009 Student Advertising Team, which won a fourth-place victory over 140 universities in the nation's premier student advertising competition held by the American Advertising Federation. Her team also won the Getty Images Best Imagery Award at the competition.

She is continuing her education this fall in Chapman's masters of science program in public health communications. She is the daughter of Jon and Sally Rogers of Carson City.

Medeiros joins honor society at WNC

Patty Ann Medeiros was inducted into the Alpha Upsilon Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Western Nevada College.

Medeiros, from Carson City, majoring in education/teaching, is the daughter of Bonnie Rogers and Carl DeHaven, and is married to Raymond Medeiros.

Established in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is an honor society serving two-year colleges around the world. The Society recognizes and encourages the academic achievement of two-year college students and provides opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service programming.

Students must rank in the top 20 percent of the class to be invited to membership and must maintain high academic standing during their enrollment in the two-year college. Phi Theta Kappa has more than 1.7 million members and 1,100 chapters located in 50 states, U.S. territories, Canada, and Germany.

Prom queen to attend San Luis Obispo

Cynthia Rose Terry was elected prom queen by her senior class of 2009 at South Lake Tahoe High School. She will be attending college at San Luis Obispo in August. She is the daughter of Anna and Tom Terry and granddaughter of Dianne Humble. Cynthia's brother John is attending U.C. Santa Barbara.
