Carson City Health Department's food-service inspections for the week of June 9 (all scores are on a 100-point scale, with points deducted depending on the severity of violations):

• China East - June 9: 1810 U.S. 50 East, scored 75 points. Several open staff drinks are located directly above food prep area. Chlorine residual of less than 50 ppm is detected on dishware after final mechanical rinse. Containers of poisonous or toxic materials are improperly labeled or are unlabeled. There are two unlabeled spray bottles under the 3-C sink. Found two cans of open oyster sauce on the shelf in the dry storage area. Found raw vegetables stored below prepared foods in the walk-in. Found bag of onions stored on the floor in the employee dining area. Found box of frozen chicken thawing on a shelf in the employee dining area. Bowls are being used to dispense foods from dry food bins. Hands are being used to dispense raw meats and vegetables in the woks on the grill to cook. Cloths used on food-contact surfaces are not clean, do not contain sanitizer residual or are not used properly. Wiping cloths are laying on various surfaces around the kitchen. The upper half (inside) of the ice machine is dirty. There are no paper towels at the only employee hand sink. A baffle is missing from the grill hood. Grease is dripping down on the cook surface. At least one employee of this establishment must be a certified food handler.

• China East - June 15: 1810 U.S. 50 East, scored 100 points.

• Golden Dragon Restaurant - June 16: 3250 Retail Dr., #150, scored 96 points. Food is stored in containers which are inadequately labeled or unlabeled, specifically dry food bins in the dry storage area. Food removed from original container is not stored in approved container. Cover of container is not impervious or nonabsorbent. Cloths used on food-contact surfaces are not clean, do not contain sanitizer residual, or are not used properly.

• Mi Casa Too - June 16: 3809 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Starbucks Coffee # 11274 - June 16: 3325 Retain Dr. #200, scored 100 points.

• Ming's Restaurant - June 16: 2330 S. Carson St., scored 98 points. Food is stored in containers which are inadequately labeled or unlabeled, specifically rice, etc. Cloths used on food-contact surfaces are not clean, do not contain sanitizer residual, or are not used properly.

• Domino's Pizza - June 17: 3231 U.S. 50 East, scored 100 points.

• San Marcos Grill - June 22: 260 E. Winnie Lane, scored 93 points. Found foods (cactus leaves, ice cream balls) uncovered in the reach-in. Another pan of food was sitting on the uncovered cactus leaves. Found tongs completely submerged in a pan of clean, sliced lettuce. Observed improper cooling of a large container (approximately four gallons) of prepared Spanish rice. In addition, there were numerous large containers of cooled foods (refried beans, salsa, etc.) in the walk-in. The cooling procedures of these foods could not be verified with the cooks present during this inspection. Cloths used on food-contact surfaces are not clean, do not contain sanitizer residual, or are not used properly. Wet wiping cloths are laying about on food prep surfaces. The sanitizer solution in the buckets appears unused, but it is set up at the proper concentration. There is no hand soap at the hand sink near the grills in the kitchen. At least one employee of this establishment must be a certified food handler.

• Pho 8 - June 22: 248 E. Winnie Lane, scored 98 points. Frozen cooked and raw meats are being thawed in a manner that does not minimize microbial growth.

• Starbucks Coffee Company - June 22: 3328 N. Carson St. #15, scored 99 points. Equipment and utensils are not handled or stored in a manner to prevent contamination.

• Burger King #8744 - June 22: 3589 N. Carson St., scored 100 points.

• Jack In The Box - June 25: 309 E. William St., scored 100 points.

• Taco Bell #24 - June 25: 3117 U.S. 50 East, scored 98 points. At least one employee of this establishment must be a certified food handler.

• Panda Kitchen - June 25: 1986 U.S. 50 East, scored 100 points.

• Starbucks Coffee #13204 - June 25: 1410 E. William St., scored 100 points.
